Gunda Misty. Patio & Pergola. July 13th , 2017.
Patios are generally designed to catch the sun. Not necessarily, in warmer areas, the heat of the midday sun, but enough sun to give you that good sense of relaxation and well being that we get when exposed to lots of vitamin D.
Do you miss being outdoors, even on the dreariest of days? Are your summers just too short? Did your evening dinner on the patio end too quickly because of the chilly weather? These are many others scenarios are why homeowners look for ways to bring the comforts of indoors to the outdoor patio.
At that moment I made it my mission to locate the beach umbrella of our dreams, one that could handle the Texas coastline's occasionally hostile tropical winds. Several owners of pulley types finish up leaving the umbrellas open for the duration of the season, due to the fact it requires some muscle to open it, and then a massive, attached pin locks it in spot. I use a lot of sunscreen and when in/on the water I wear a hat and a rash guard which is often a lot more than sufficient...but in the past we have also used a beach umbrella.
Like any large city, the greater Kansas City area has many homes with smaller backyards. Fortunately, concrete patio design can be developed in such as way as to make the most of these smaller spaces. Concrete can be made to look like stone, slate or marble, and it can be polished or given the appearance of large or small bricks. Pre-cut pavers are also an excellent choice for a patio, and homeowners can enjoy the sensation of an Italian Palazzo or woodsy retreat in their own backyard. A good concrete company can give suggestions and offer examples of their work.
