But whether they feel secure as a family is doubtful because we see many affluent families fighting for their share of property. Such families are also not afraid to wash dirty linen in public. But whatever bad can be said about owners of such homes, they are admired because it does show their ability to afford such homes. Owning such homes is enviable but maintaining the place is not enviable.
Others feel afraid being in a large space especially if they are left alone. Then there is always the risk of intruders which cannot be monitored constantly. It was recently reported in the press that some foreigners came here because they felt that such homes were easy targets for burglary. So they bought their airline tickets and travelled some twenty thousand kilometres just to rob and plunder.
Patios are generally designed to catch the sun. Not necessarily, in warmer areas, the heat of the midday sun, but enough sun to give you that good sense of relaxation and well being that we get when exposed to lots of vitamin D.
The drawbacks of concrete include lack of beauty, and long term maintenance costs. The only type of decking that requires more maintenance than concrete is wood. Pavers, bricks, and other stones are the flip side of that coin - pretty, and low maintenance, but initially more costly.
