OA Standing Ovation

OA Standing Ovation

While Joshua Ledet is an excellent singer, I do not agree that the performances deserve an standing ovation.  I mean, it appeared that the standing ovation was reserved for him as in planned.  He sounded churchy and screechy.  It is not really that perfect to warrant that remark of JLo as ‘one of the best singers in 50 years’!  There were better AI top 5 contenders. Ledet was as equally boring as that gorgeous...

Under the blistering heat?

Under the blistering heat?

If not for the beloved son’s wish, we will not attend UP Diliman‘s graduation because of what I heard that it would be celebrated at the space at the back of the Oblation statue. I do not remember what that area is called.  True to what I heard, the ceremony was held under the blistering heat of the sun.  There was no cover or structure that will cover the graduates and the parents. Son...

Steel structure for my garage?

Steel structure for my garage?

I do not actually want a whole building for a garage.  Like all metal buildings, one can have a building for the garage but with limited space, we cannot just allot space for a garage.  A garage with a metal structure can be done I guess even if it is not a whole metal building. I met someone who mentioned that their manufacturing company produces metal frameworks for houses.  He marketed the benefits of...

What did you buy him the past Easter?

April 16, 2012

Yes, just last week’s Easter. Or should the question be – Do you buy something for someone on the day of Easter? If you do, why? I ask because in a social networking site, I saw pics of people celebrating Easter in a kind of unique (questionable?) way. The celebration is supposed to be about faith, about Jesus’ resurrection.  It was not what it should be.  Those people are dancing in a bar, drinking...

Reflections on a Good Friday

Sometimes it makes you think.  The things that’re happening make you think. I do not intend to question anyone’s belief or faith but sometimes I couldn’t really understand how people understand the whole thing about faith.  Let’s take this example during breakfast this morning of Good Friday.  At the table near ours, I heard someone said, “Gumawa ka na ng kasalanan ngayon, patay si God ngayong Friday (You can sin today because God is...

Still Young to Die, Ms. Houston

Still Young to Die, Ms. Houston

At 48, Ms. Whitney Houston died. My son, who is a fan, felt really sad about the news. He even has an organized archive of videos by Whitney Houston. After being enamored by Alanis Morisette‘s songs, he later discovered Whitney Houston and was so amazed by the talent that it is a puzzle to him why she turned to drugs when she had it all. It might sound odd that my son admires Whitney...

What I Cannot Afford

What I Cannot Afford

While some would wallow in self-pity because they cannot afford to buy the latest smart phone, or the latest shoes, bag and apparel, or the latest car model, I do not grieve over these things that only those with intangibles could afford.  I worry about the intangible matters that a mother cannot afford. I Cannot Afford to be Sick. We are a family of four.  We don’t have a help because we cannot afford,...

In a Grocery Store Where Mendicants Are

Puregold Balintawak opened today. The grocery store is big.  The prices are lower.  The most important thing is it is very near our house. I can’t help but notice though, and this is without judgment, that even the mendicants are allowed inside.  I say they are mendicants because they are dirty all over and their clothes are soiled.  I know, I can still be hated and possible to be branded judgmental.  But who would...

Funny T-shirts?

Funny T-shirts?

How do you define funny?  What are funny t shirts? Funny has a lot of meanings. It basically means providing fun.  But this can be subjective.  Something that can be funny to one is not funny to another. It can mean peculiar or odd.  This is when political correctness is not a necessity.  This isn’t the goodie-goodie funny.  This is hard core funny. As to funny shirts, do not be shocked if they offend...

How to Sleep in a Wintry Country

How to Sleep in a Wintry Country

I could die in a country that has snow.  Snow will only be lovely to look at in pictures but not to experience it.  That is how I believe it.  I know that I will not like it no matter how others will say it will be only difficult during your first time. That is why I wonder how people sleep in a wintry country.  How could one be warm and cozy and fall...
